I carved my greed into the sphere,
Of roving drift to keep my world afloat;
But against the flood of thy wisdom,
They were the sodden paper boats.
I wasn’t aware of what this world told me,
What marvel it has planned to bring;
But I saw the light fading in my eyes,
Along with my will to live.
My soul wanted you to prick the darkness,
But my pride ignored the need to adhere;
Trapped somewhere between the ignorance it brought,
And a relentless craving to disappear.
I plunged my being into thy light,
To cast away the gloom I long behold;
And you hold me tight when I trembled,
And let my truth enfold.
